Dignity and respect
Dignity and respect is the foundation for all health and social care services and needs to be the business of everyone involved at every level. It is rightly regarded as a key outcome assessed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
On 22 October 2011 Derbyshire County Council Adult Care, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust launched a programme of joint work to strengthen the way services worked together, and to use the Dignity in Care campaign 10 point challenge as the framework to improve the care and support people receive when admitted to hospital and when planning for discharge.
The Key Points Pledge is attached to this page.
The programme includes teams individually and jointly working to achieve the Bronze and Silver Dignity in Care standards and has supported improvements to joint policy and procedures, most recently a joint procedure for managing delayed transfers of care from Derbyshire community hospitals.

Are you treating people with dignity and respect?
A key test is if you are treating people with the same dignity and respect as you would want for yourself or your family. There are limitless ways to meet or even exceed expectations about how people are treated so we want to raise the bar as high as we can.
Derbyshire Adult Care and NHS Derbyshire County have therefore launched a campaign to have dignity champions in every service team across the county.
In this part of the website you will find our launch pack for dignity champions and information about dignity standards and information.
Good luck with your dignity work ahead!
Bronze standard achievers
At the Showcase Dignity and Respect Event held on 1 November 2011 the first 12 achievers of the bronze standard were presented with their awards.
The event had an upbeat feeling in line with the spirit of the campaign, which aims to promote practical improvements to the experience of people who receive services - improvements which are often small and have little cost - but considerable benefits.
Thank you also to all those who took the time and effort to provide an information stand at the event, which made it such an interesting day.
The latest list of Bronze Standard Award achievers is available along with photographs of the awards presentations
