Learning disabilities day opportunities
Learning disability day centres provide accessible day services across Derbyshire.
The centres offer support for people with different needs, from minimal support through to more intensive personal care.
They work with other statutory and community based care providers to deliver personalised support. The centres aim to maximise the independence and promote social inclusion of people with a learning disability.
Some activities offered at learning disability day services are time-limited and targeted to achieve your objectives, for example, getting ready to access employment or educational activities.
The centres also support you to access activities in the community or in outreach groups.
Our community connectors work with people who attend learning disability day services or young people in transition. They can help you develop new skills and get involved with activities in your local community. They have introduced people to activities like mainstream weekly jogs, gyms and swimming as part of their independent daytime activity. Community connectors can also help you find paid or voluntary work. Please see the easy read community connectors leaflet attached to this page.
