Mental health enablement

Our mental health enablement team work with people to support them to reach their optimum level of independence in daily living, with a low level, short-term support.

They can support with:

  • improving social and occupational networks
  • providing links to local community groups
  • finances and budgeting
  • maintaining home environments
  • support with hoarding
  • people leaving hospital
  • preventing people from requiring more intensive or longer-term input and to reduce the need for a secondary referral to mental health services or hospital admission
  • facilitating a smooth exit and a successful transition from secondary mental health services back into the community
  • promoting improved mental health and emotional wellbeing and to promote recovery and resilience
  • enabling and support people to develop skills, interests and social confidence to build meaningful occupation into their daily routine including maintaining or working towards paid employment

Our mental health enablement service works with:

  • people who are vulnerable or whose mental health is at risk and are experiencing difficulty in managing their day-to-day lives
  • people using secondary mental health services who may benefit from an intensive period of enablement
  • people whose mental health challenges are significantly influenced by environmental and social factors
  • people who are willing and able to engage in an intense, short-term, goal-orientated intervention
