Have your say on day opportunities and short breaks

We're asking for people's views on plans to change the way we provide day opportunities and short breaks for people with learning disabilities and/or autism.

Take part in the consultation

People with learning disabilities and/or autism tell us they want the same opportunities as everyone else - getting involved in their community, going out with friends, learning new skills or finding work.

We've been developing services that help them to achieve these ambitions but we also have to ensure we're supporting those who need us most.

We've always prided ourselves on being a well-managed council, balancing our books from year to year, but like all other councils across the country we’re facing increasing financial pressures that are outside our control.

To help us get the best value for money for our services, at a time of increasing financial pressures, we need to review to what extent we provide those services directly.

Direct consultation will take place with people who currently use services, their families and carers with additional centre-based meetings being held for them to give their views.

People can also fill in an online questionnaire which is available in either standard or easy-read.

The consultation runs until 17 July 2024.

Paper copies of the questionnaire are also available on request and the public can also attend drop-in sessions at Derbyshire libraries where support can be offered to anyone who needs help to make their views known.
