The county council commissioned a study to highlight problem areas in Ashbourne and recommend improvements after concerns were raised about congestion.
Suggestions were drawn-up following discussions with the district council, town council and other interested groups. Now findings from the study will be explained at a public presentation in the Community Room at Ashbourne Leisure Centre on Wednesday 8 July at 1.30pm.
The event is open to everyone. Visitors will be able to see the plans, listen to a short presentation explaining the findings and ask questions about suggested improvements including:
Changes to car parking (including Market Square)
Improvements to the A515 (to Buxton)
Junction improvements
Amendments to the one-way system.
Councillor Chris Jackson, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "Improving Derbyshire’s roads is high on our agenda – particularly in rural areas.
"Ashbourne gets extremely congested but with no funding currently available for a by-pass, we have to make the best use of existing roads in the town.
"We’ve carried out some detailed investigations and now we have some ideas for improvement on the table we want to know what people think of them.
"People can comment about the suggestions at the event, or online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk where they can also find the Ashbourne Traffic Study (opens in a new window).
