February's road improvement round up

More than one million pounds is being invested in road repairs and improvements across the county by Derbyshire County Council in February.

The money is part of a £12m package of Government transport funding to support a range of measures identified in the council’s local transport plan for 2006 -11.

Councillor Brian Lucas, cabinet member for environmental services, said: “Improving the road network is a priority for the council.

“We continue to work hard to improve and maintain the condition and safety of our roads and pavements for local people.”

During February, work to improve roads will be carried out by the county council in the following districts:


Amber Valley £194,000
  • A6 Derby Road, Whatstandwell - £144,000 - Road resurfacing

  • A517 Bridgefoot, Belper - £40,000 - Electronic warning sign for bridge

  • Wellington Court, Belper - £10,000 - Road resurfacing

Bolsover - £117,257

  • A619 Worksop Road, Darfoulds, Whitwell -£54,557 - Road resurfacing

  • A632 Main Road, Langworth - £62,700 - Road resurfacing

Chesterfield - £50,000

  • Whitecotes Lane - £20,000 - School safety zone to reduce casualties on route to school

  • A61 Derby Road - £30,000 - Toucan crossing

Derbyshire Dales - £199,529

  • A6 Dale Road South / Greenaway Lane junction, Darley Dale - £55,000 - Road drainage - flood alleviation scheme

  • A621 Clodhall Lane, Baslow - £20,000 - Remedial measures to reduce casualties

  • Hurst Rise, Matlock Rise - £124,529 - Road resurfacing

Erewash - £25,000

  • A6007 Heanor Road, Ilkeston - £25,000 - Puffin conversion

High Peak - £185,932

  • Market Street, Church Street, Hayfield - £62,932 - Road resurfacing

  • New Mills town centre - £25,000 - New mills bus station enhancement

  • Town centre, New Mills - £2,000 - Contribution to town council’s provision of cycle parking facilities

  • Meadowfield, Whaley Bridge - £36,000 - Footpath reconstruction

  • A515 quadrant, Buxton - £20,000 - Puffin conversion

  • A53 Railway Hotel, Buxton - £20,000 - Puffin conversion

  • A57 Arundel Street, Glossop - £20,000 - MOVA upgrade

North East Derbyshire - £246,232
  • A632 Chesterfield Road, Long Duckmanton - £103,635 - Road resurfacing

  • B6039 Chesterfield Road, Holmewood - £72,842 - Road resurfacing

  • Walford Road, Rowan Tree Road, Westfield Road, Killamarsh - £62,668 - Speed hump maintenance

  • Buttermere Drive, Dronfield - £7,087 - Path resurfacing
