Copying service

When you visit, you can take copies from microfilms and computers on a self-service basis.

We can supply photocopies of original text documents, subject to copyright restrictions.

Sometimes it isn't possible to make photocopies without damaging the original document. In these cases we can often scan or photograph the item and provide digital or printed copies.

All copying of photographic material held at Derbyshire Record Office is done by Picture the Past. If you wish to order a copy of a photograph, please use the digital photography service order form below.

It is also possible to order copies of documents without visiting the Record Office in person. Please contact the duty archivist on 01629 539209 or email record.office@derbyshire.gov.uk to request a quote for copying. For ordering copies of Derbyshire wills, please see the wills database.

If you are researching family history and would like copies of entries from the parish registers, but do not know the date of the entry, please use our research service.

Charges

All photocopies and digital copies are charged per page or per image. Postage costs are applied for remote orders. A search and preparation fee will be applied when arranging quotes for large reprographics orders. For more information about costs a table of fees is available to download on this page.

Payment can be made by cheque, credit card or debit card. All copying requests should be accompanied by a completed order form, including a signed copyright declaration.

Reproducing images

Under copyright regulations, copies of documents cannot be published in hard copy or electronic form without written permission.

We can only provide copies of documents for personal research purposes and not for commercial or publication purposes.

Prior approval from the depositor and copyright owner where necessary, via Derbyshire Record Office, must be sought before copies of documents may be published or used for purposes other than personal research.

To ask permission, please contact us. If permission is given, it will be on condition that appropriate acknowledgment is made.
