Temporary closure
Derbyshire Record Office and Derbyshire Local Studies Library are closing at Christmas to move into our newly extended and refurbished building. Both services will be closing on 21 December 2012 for approximately six weeks to allow us to move back into our new building in New Street, Matlock.
We will reopen as the new joint service on 12 February 2013. Please note that during this closure period we will be unable to deal with enquiries. If you need help urgently; please email us at record.office@derbyshire.gov.uk or telephone us on 01629 538347.

Changes to registering to use Derbyshire Record Office
We are now part of the CARN (County Archives Research Network) registration scheme.
If you are a currently registered Derbshire Record Office user, we will need to ask you to re-register with us. However, if you already have a CARN ticket, please show it when visiting and you will not need to re-register.
These tickets are free; they are valid for four years and will give you access to any record office that belongs to the Research Network.
Photography in the searchroom
From 1 April 2012, you will be able to use your own camera to take photographs of documents in our public searchroom.
Buying a photography licence will allow unlimited photography. The licence will cost £5 for a day licence or £50 for an annual licence.
