Education

We hold regular introduction sessions for people wanting to learn more about archival resources in Derbyshire. We also offer services to schools and teachers, and produce online exhibitions to showcase special items from our collection.

The Attic Chest

Why not take a look at our current exhibition a collection of Regency poems, essays and general whimsy; edited by Eleanor Anne Porden, protofeminist and her father William, a Gothic Architect.

Schools and teaching

We hold over four miles of historical documents from the Middle Ages to the present day covering geography, science, personal, local and national history, citizenship, art and design, and more. You can find out about our resource packs and other services to support teaching on our schools page.

George M Woodward archive

Born in 1765 and raised in Stanton by Dale, George Murgatroyd Woodward was a talented and evocative caricaturist. More interested in the humour found in everyday life than in high politics, the Woodward collection provides a fascinating insight into the tastes and fashions of 18th century England.
