Special collections
There are some interesting Special Collections held in the Local Studies Library at County Hall.The British Cave Research Association Library contains an international range of periodicals about caving worldwide.
The Barmasters' Library contains some unusual local books and material on leadmining in the Peak area. It includes reckoning books for some of the mines.
The L du Garde Peach collection contains manuscript and printed plays plus other literary works by this Derbyshire dramatist.
The Wolley Manuscripts are available on microfilm (the originals being in the British Library in London). These well-indexed manuscripts provide fascinating raw material for Derbyshire history. They include a significant section on lead mining.
Manuscript material on microfilm and fiche includes the Shrewsbury and Talbot papers, the Kerry manuscripts and other archives of local interest. These have all been microfilmed from originals held elsewhere in the country.
