Chesterfield Local Studies Library has five special collections.
The Stephenson railway collection
The Stephenson collection consists of books and pamphlets, illustrations, maps, and a few manuscripts. It reveals the contribution of George Stephenson to railway history and his connection with the Chesterfield area. It also covers the later development of the railway network in the area.
The Sitwell collection
This literary collection comprises over 500 printed volumes of the writings of the Sitwell family of Renishaw Hall.
The Asa Lees collection
This is a unique collection for dog lovers. It includes all kinds of specialised material on dog breeding including pedigrees, especially of smooth haired fox terriers.
The Coal Collection
A collection of books, periodicals and reports relating to the coal minning industry.
The Coke-Steel Collection
Music books and scores with some orginal manuscript music collected by Roger Sacheverell Coke of Brookhill Hall, Pinxton.
