Census and statistics
At Chesterfield Local Studies library we keep Census enumerators' returns for all the northern part of Derbyshire. They are held on microfilm from 1841 to 1901.
There are name indexes to Derbyshire for 1851 and 1891, 1861 is in progress. The Name Index to the 1881 Census on microfiche and CD ROM covers England, Wales and Scotland as well.
Derbyshire census tables are available for 1831 and 1881 to date.
Statistical profiles from the 1991 census are available for electoral wards and parishes in the District Councils of Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire. We also have Small Area Statistics for the whole county on microfiche.
