Specialised sources

Here are some of the more unusual specialised resources for family history that you can use at the Derbyshire Local Studies Library, County Hall.
  • Manuscripts, on microfilm or republished often contain names and information about people. Some  include family trees. Our manuscripts include Wolley, Shrewsbury, Kerry, Ince, Yeatman, Derbyshire Archaeological Journal and Staffordshire Record Society.

  • Apprentices Indexes list apprentices and their masters.

  • Lists of Emigrants: Coldham, Filby, Australian 1st and 2nd Fleets.

  • Soldiers Died in the Great War. Army Roll of Honour World War II

  • Peerage and Gentry Listings: Burke, De Brett, Kelly, Cockayne.

  • Dictionary of National Biography, Who was Who.

  • Public School Registers. We have a few, not all are Derbyshire schools.

  • Police Gazettes: 1919 to 1953. Give details of released criminals.

  • Criminal Register Indexes UK from 1805. A name index to National Archives registers.
