If you fall into one of the following groups you may be entitled to reduced charges for some services.


Individuals and their dependants in receipt of Income Support and individuals in receipt of Incapacity Benefit, or Job Seekers Allowance

Reduced charge for:

  • borrowing audio books
  • requests for books and audio books

People aged 60+

Reduced charge for:

  • borrowing audio books
  • requests for books and audio books

Gold Card holders

Reduced charge for:

  • borrowing CDs and DVDs
  • borrowing audio books
  • requests for books and audio books

Children under 12

No charge for:

  • overdue books or audio books
  • requesting books or audio books
  • borrowing audio books
  • replacement stationery

Young people aged 12 up to 17

No charge for:

  • borrowing audio books
  • requesting books or audio books

Reduced charge for:

  • overdue books or audio Books

B_line card holders

Reduced charge for:

  • borrowing CDs and DVDs

Students in full-time education

Reduced charge for:

  • requesting books

Visually impaired and print denied people

No charge for:

  • borrowing audio books
  • requesting audio books

Reduced charge for:

  • borrowing CDs and DVDs
  • requests for books

Housebound people

No charge for:

  • overdue books or audio books
  • borrowing audio books and CDs
