What you can borrow

You can borrow up to 24 items at a time, these can include:


Books

  • We have an extensive collection of fiction and non fiction books for adults and children, including large print books
  • They are free to borrow, but there is a small charge if you want to request a specific book
  • They are normally borrowed for 21 days and can be renewed
  • If they are returned late charges apply to borrowers 12 and over

Audio books

  • We have a large collection of unabridged audio books on CD and tape
  • There is a small charge for loaning and requesting audio books for borrowers 18 and over
  • They are normally borrowed for 21 days and can be renewed
  • If they are returned late charges apply to borrowers 12 and over

DVDs

  • A number of libraries have DVD collections covering films, TV and leisure topics
  • There is a charge for borrowing most DVDs
  • They are free to request and can be borrowed from any library
  • A maximum of four DVDs can be borrowed at any time
  • New DVD feature films (yellow spot) can be borrowed for three days and cannot be renewed
  • DVD box sets and all other DVDs (orange, green, blue and red spots) are borrowed for a week and can be renewed
  • If they are returned late charges apply to borrowers 12 and over
  • Age restrictions apply when borrowing DVDs

CDs

  • There is a collection of music CDs at Chesterfield Library
  • They are free to borrow and request
  • A maximum of eight CDs can be borrowed at any time
  • They are normally borrowed for 21 days and can be renewed
  • If they are returned late charges apply to borrowers 12 and over

eBooks

  • Members of Derbyshire libraries can also join our eBooks service
  • eBooks are free to borrow and are loaned for three weeks
  • Up to sixteen eBooks can be borrowed at one time, this is separate to the limit on physical items
  • eBooks cannot be renewed but can be borrowed again

Concessions

There are reduced charges for concessionary groups
