Reader Groups
Have you ever read a brilliant book and wanted to talk with someone who's read it too? Maybe hated a best-seller, or discovered a new writer and wanted to share your ideas? Then maybe a reader group is for you.
Whether you are already in a group, interested in joining or starting one of your own then we can help.
We can offer:
- Library staff to talk to
- Library space for meetings
- Help and advice in setting up a group
- Support for volunteers who set up groups
- Sets of books to borrow in several formats (up to 8 in any twelve month period)
- Free group loans and free requests for group use after a book has been in stock more than 6 months
- Reading advice and information
- Ideas for reading activities
- Talks to groups on book related themes
- Informal book related events
- Reader group newsletter and advance information about forthcoming events
- Organised tours of libraries and facilities.
However…
- Library Staff are not able to facilitate reading groups on an ongoing basis
- A small charge may be made for author talks, events and workshops
- A charge may also be made for use of library premises outside of normal opening hours.
