Effective learning depends on the availability of high quality, well-targeted materials for use by students.

What are the benefits to schools?
Loan collections which are tailored to national curriculum requirements.

Charges for Derbyshire Schools

  • Annual subscription: £160
  • Loans: £2.50 per item per term
  • Delivery: Free during designated delivery and collection periods
  • INSET: £15 per person per hour for the core programme; £35 per hour for INSET provided at individual schools.              

Loans
Loans of resources including both books and non-book material tailored to the national curriculum, literacy and numeracy strategies and other key areas. 

  • Loans will consist of museum items, artefacts, books, posters, pictures and other resources appropriate to the topic and Key Stage
  • Supporting documentation providing stimulating ideas on classroom use
  • Standard loan period of one term              

Delivery
Free delivery to and collection from school for all items. 

  • Deliveries will be made in the first two full weeks of every term. Collections will be made in the last two full weeks of every term.
  • Teachers may arrange to collect from and return their loan material to School Library Service personally
  • School Library Service will be open from 9am until 5pm every weekday.              

INSET
Opportunities for teachers to receive training in the use of artefacts linked to books and other media in the classroom. 

  • A core programme of INSET will be provided at Kedleston Road and other venues.
  • INSET may be provided for individual schools on request.
