New Ashbourne Library
Plans for a new library in Ashbourne have been unveiled.
The library is to be built on the site of a former health centre in Compton.
The new, bigger library will have
more books and dvds
more computers
a better children's library
room for community activities
a new registrar's office and ceremony room
a day centre for adults with learning disabilities
a double-height reception area
a Changing Places toilet
a display space for the town's Shrovetide committee memorabilia
Consultation will take place before a report is considered by our planning regulatory committee in the spring of 2012.

If the plans are approved, building work is expected to get under way in June next year after the existing building is demolished.
The new library is due to open in March 2013.
