Library Volunteer

Welcome to your 24-hour library.

Everyone can use Derbyshire libraries by visiting one of our network of branch and mobile libraries or by using our online services.

Library volunteering opportunities

We have a variety of volunteering roles for people of all ages.

Summer Reading Challenge volunteers

Young people aged from 13 to 24 are needed to help with the Summer Reading Challenge in our libraries. You would help to sign up participants, create displays, run activities and events. Applications need to be in by Saturday 6 June 2015.

IT volunteers

You would help the public to use computers in libraries, usually in one to one sessions. Topics covered are searching the internet, setting up an email and using the ancestry database.

Home Library Service volunteers

In a joint project with the RVS, library volunteers deliver library materials to people who cannot easily access their local library.

Childrens' activities

Help with storytime and rhyme times in libraries.

More information

All volunteers are interviewed and references are taken up. Not all volunteer roles are available all the time.
