Grin Low and Buxton Country Park

Grin Low

Grin Low is a unique site which combines important landscape and wildlife features with an incredibly rich history.

Solomon's Temple, a tower built in 1896 at the site's highest point, provides fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.

Facilities include a picnic site, car park, toilets (including toilets for disabled people), and caravan site run by the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

With woodland walks, open grassland spaces and some of Derbyshire's finest wild flower pastures, there is something for everyone, whether you are a local or visitor.

Walk up Grin Low to Solomon's Temple (439 metres above sea level) for a superb vantage point and picnic area where the fascinating history of industrial lime burning is explained. Stroll along the shady pathways of Grin Low Woods and look out for birds, animals and rare plants.

Visit Poole's Cavern show cave for its incredible stalactites and stalagmites. Tours are available throughout the season and by arrangement in winter.
