Rangers and wardens

Find out about our Countryside rangers and wardens.
Countryside rangers and wardens are the countryside field staff who are out and about on a daily basis throughout the year, come rain or shine.

They get to know their 'patch', what goes on and what needs doing and can be more responsive to local needs. Our rangers and wardens are our visible presence on the ground.

They work to manage and maintain sites, improve and create new facilities for countryside recreation and to achieve a balance between the use of the countryside by people and wildlife.

A key part of their work is promoting the understanding and enjoyment of the countryside to local people and visitors and site maintenance.

They are easy to spot with their distinctive purple and green uniforms, bearing our logo. So look out for them and do feel free to approach them - they are there to help.
