The National Park
The National Park covers approximately one third of Derbyshire.
It employs its own rights of way officer who works with its seven constituent councils to improve and maintain the rights of way network.
The National Parks staff carry out a tremendous amount of work on Rights of Way, improving access as well as working with the landowners to manage the many millions of visitors that want to enjoy this beautiful area.
We remain responsible for Public Rights of Way in the National Park area of Derbyshire (we are the highway and surveying authority for rights of way) and therefore if you encounter any problems with the network please report them to us.
Please visit the Peak District National Park Authority website (opens in a new window) to learn more about its work.
South Derbyshire
We operate an agency agreement with South Derbyshire District Council. The council employs a rights of way officer who is available to deal with the following issues:
liaison and advice
obstructions
ploughing and cropping problems
maintenance to rights of way
waymarking of rights of way
public path orders.
We remain responsible for:
providing and maintaining bridges over 3 metres
Please visit the South Derbyshire District Council web site (opens in a new window) for more information.
We also work in partnership with the other local authorities within Derbyshire. Please visit our other councils page for more information about how to contact other councils in Derbyshire.
