So what might you see?
The Unstone Line was a mineral line, used to carry coal from the Unstone mines. You will see the remains of railway arches and mine buildings, although nature has now taken over you can still imagine the trucks trundling along the line.
We now manage the line as a nature reserve and in the spring the ponds by the boardwalk are alive with frogs and newts. Look out for wildflowers in the woodland and stop and listen for birdsong. What can you hear?
You can start the Unstone, Frith Wood and Summerley self guided walk here. Download the leaflet from the way marked walks section of our website.
