This exhibition celebrates working lives and the importance of Friendly Societies to support families in times of unemployment and hardship.

Tools of the trades, Friendly Society sashes and images of workplaces over the last three centuries, all drawn from the museum’s permanent collections, illustrate the rise of the industrial society.
