Collectors and collections: The Sky's the Limit

The broad skies of Derbyshire and the Peak District are a constant fascination for artists.
This selection of artworks from the museum’s permanent collections depicts the range of techniques, styles and compositions used in these ‘skyscapes’.
The different textures of the sky, from washed-out hazy sunshine in watercolour to robust stormy clouds in oils, are shown in scenes both local and from further afield.
