Derbyshire Police Collection
Residents and visitors of Derbyshire can now visit the Derbyshire Police Collections through a programme of touring themed exhibitions that runs county wide.
The Derbyshire Police Collection was until recently displayed in a working police station in Derby. The collection was transferred to Derbyshire County Council in November 2004 as a gift from Derbyshire Constabulary and is now held in the care of Buxton Museum and Art Gallery.
The collection includes Derbyshire Police uniform, equipment dating from 1833 to modern day as well as crime related materials such as drug paraphenalia, counterfeit money and offensive weapons.
There is also a large photograph collection with images from the 1890s to modern day depicting police from across the county. Though we hold many law related and policing documents we do not hold the archive of personal policing records.
The collection tours Derbyshire in a series of travelling exhibitions.
