Getting started

Join friends and neighbours to see what you can do
  • Find out what people like, and dislike, about where they live
  • Keep an eye on each other's property when people are away. You can report vandals to Crimestoppers - you can call them free on 0800 555 111. You do not have to give your name and you may get a reward.
  • Involve youngsters in your project through activities in their playgroup, school or club.
  • Find out about what developments are being planned in your area. Ask whether they are on derelict land or a 'greenfield' site. Your local council's planning section should be able to give you details and advise you on who to contact if you have any concerns.
  • Join in with an existing project. Details of groups may be available at your local library.
  • Tell others your ideas for improving life in your community - and tell us! You could produce a newsletter, poster or leaflet to highlight the issues that matter to you and your neighbourhood.
  • Have fun and help yourself, your neighbours and your community.
