Big Choices - your views wanted on planning for waste

Derbyshire County Council and Derby City Council are jointly writing a plan which will help the waste industry and local communities find the best places to build new sorting and treatment plants over the next 20 years.

We have published a consultation report, called “Big Choices” and we are inviting you to get involved in the preparation of the plan.

Please read the Big Choices Report and the two Background Papers (which can be downloaded from the related documents section) and give us your views.

The consultation period runs from Friday 5 February 2010 to Friday 9 April 2010. We would be very grateful if you would take part.

The waste plan is to be called “The Derby and Derbyshire Waste Core Strategy Development Plan Document”.

We intend to finalise the plan in 2011 and formally adopt it in 2012 but it is very important that we take into account everybody's opinions and ideas as early as possible.

Big Choices is one stage in the preparation of the plan.

Sending us your views will help us develop the first draft of the plan, on which we will also invite you to comment.

If you have difficulty downloading the documents, you can obtain copies, free of charge, by phoning Call Derbyshire at 08 456 058 058.

It will help us if you reply using the questionnaire, which can be completed and sent to us by email wasteminsldf@derbyshire.gov.uk or post to:

Development Plans Team (Waste)
Derbyshire County Council

You do not have to use the questionnaire and may reply by letter or email to either of the above addresses.

If you would like to ask for further advice about Big Choices, you are welcome to phone or email us.
