Clothes

Reuse

  • Make patterned quilts or cushion covers depending on the fabric and design.
  • Take unwanted clothes to the textile banks at your local recycling centre (opens in a new window) or your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre.
  • Donate good quality clothes to your local charity shops.
  • Watch out for the plastic sacks that are posted through your mail box occasionally that provide door collections.
  • Designer labels can be sold on internet auction websites.
  • Pass good quality clothes onto family members or friends.
  • Old or worn clothing can be cut up and used for rags and dusters around the house.

Recycle

Recycle unwanted clothes by adding them to your kerbside collections where available - please contact your local district, borough or city council for more information about kerbside collection schemes.

Find out how to contact your local district, borough or city council by visiting our Other councils page.
