We along with Derby City Council are jointly preparing a plan called the Waste Site Allocations Development Plan Document.
In due course, it will become part of the development plans for Derby and Derbyshire, along with the adopted Derby and Derbyshire Waste Local Plan (March 2005) and other local plans and development plan documents.
The new plan, which will complement the above plans and documents, will set out the policies and proposals for making site-specific provision for waste development up to 2020.
It will cover Derby and Derbyshire except the Peak District National Park.
It will show, among other matters, sites which the councils consider, in principle, suitable for large developments associated with waste management.
During the past two years, the councils have been seeking peoples’ views on possible locations and sites for future waste management development and have now (September 2007) reached the statutory stage of Pre-Submission Public Participation.
The councils have published a leaflet entitled 'Dealing with Rubbish' to help to publicise this consultation process.
In accordance with the regulations, and in line with government guidance, the councils are publishing their Preferred Options. The Preferred Options publications are listed in the more information section on this page.
The report contains preferred sites and draft policies relating to the sites. It has a map and description of each site. It also lists other sites on which the councils have previously consulted and briefly explains why they are not preferred sites.
The documents can be viewed or downloaded from the more information section on this page.
They can also be viewed at the deposit points listed or copies obtained by phoning Call Derbyshire on 08456 058 058.
People and organisations are entitled to make representations in the statutory six-week period from 28 September 2007 to 9 November 2007.
The representations will inform the preparation of the development plan document which the city and county intend to submit to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government in 2008.
