Minerals Site Allocations - Aggregates - Development Plan Document

We are preparing a new planning document called the Minerals Site Allocations - Aggregates - Development Plan Document (DPD).

It is being prepared jointly with Derby City Council and, in due course, will supersede the relevant parts of the Minerals Local Plan.

The new plan will set out the policies and identify sites for aggregate minerals up to 2019. It covers Derbyshire outside the Peak District National Park.

We published an Issues and Options document for public consultation in June 2006, which sets out the main issues concerning the need, and possible locations, for new sites for the extraction of aggregates. This document is available to download from the Issues and Options page.

We took into account all comments received at the Issues and Options stage and undertook rigorous assessments of all site options, and published the Preferred Options Report in August 2007 (you can view or download this document from the more information section on this page). This identifies specific sites and contains policies for future aggregate working.

The six week consultation period on the Preferred Options Report ended on 12 October 2007.  Please refer to theLatest News article, which can be found below under the more information section, for the latest information regarding the progress in the preparation of this DPD.
