Planning in Derbyshire
Planning for future development in Derbyshire and dealing with planning applications is undertaken by a number of different councils and which council deals with the aspect of planning that you are interested in will depend on where you live.
We're responsible for minerals and waste planning throughout the county (apart from within the Peak District National Park or Derby City), both in terms of preparing plans and dealing with planning applications.
We also deal with applications for our own development (such as development on school sites).
The district and borough councils within the county, but outside the National Park, deal with local planning policy and with the majority of planning applications for housing, commercial, industry, shopping and leisure development.
We work closely with the district and borough councils, providing expert advice on issues such as ecology, highways and landscape and design when required.
