Derelict and contaminated land

We have a specialist team that has been responsible for the reclamation of over 2,000 hectares since 1968.

An ongoing programme of reclamation continues today and aims to restore derelict land to beneficial use thereby improving the economic, social and natural environment (e.g. Markham Colliery, Chesterfield Canal, Grassmoor Lagoons and cycle trails).

The new contaminated land register will be set up and maintained by the district and borough councils, although the specialist team here is able to offer advice, project management and design services.
