Arts
  • What we offer
The Youth Service offers you a “Young Volunteers” training programme which includes a range of activities through a training programme which is divided into two stages including completing two Youthtrain Units and a residential (overnight stay) at the end of stage one.
Young people can choose to do one or both stages of the programme although you will need to complete both stages to be recognised as a County Youth Service Young Volunteer.
  • How will it benefit you?
You will have the opportunity to gain a Youthtrain qualification which is accredited by the Open College Network. This means that the work you do will be nationally recognised and a certificate issued to show the high standard that has been achieved. This can then be recorded on your record of achievement or CV.
  • Millennium Volunteers?
If you want to make a difference in your community and are aged between 16-24 you can have the opportunity of becoming a Millennium Volunteer. You would need to give some of your free time (100 or 200 hours) helping in your local community.
  • What’s in it for me?
After completing 100 hours volunteering you will receive an award signed by the Minister for Skills and Vocational Education. After 200 hours you will receive an Award of excellence signed by the Secretary of State.

What is involved?

The role of a Volunteer Youth Worker is to support the youth work team in the planning, development and delivery of an agreed programme of learning and activity for young people. Due to the nature of the work all Youth Work Volunteers will need to complete an application form and will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
