Rhythms of Life - celebration events

'Rhythms of Life' is a programme led by Derbyshire Youth Council to improve opportunities for young people in Derbyshire.

‘Rhythms of Life’ is a programme of arts activity and celebration taking place from February to July 2009 across all Derbyshire Districts, supported by Youth Opportunities Fund and Derbyshire County Council.

The first two events, happening in February 2009 in District of Bolsover and Chesterfield, are funded through the Department for Children, Families and School to celebrate the contribution that young people are making to their communities.

'Rhythms of Life' will extend activity across Derbyshire from March to July 2009. District Youth Forums are working with the Babbling Vagabonds, a Derbyshire community arts organisation, to offer out of school activities for young people including local workshops and performances.

'Rhythms of Life' will promote young people’s creativity and cultural leadership, providing opportunities for young people to take part in the arts as project managers, participants and audience. This is in preparation for new a national programme called 'Find Your Talent' - to help all young people access five hours of arts and culture per week, both in and out of school.

'Rhythms of Life' is about encouraging young people to discover new things, to express themselves, to develop a passion and to make the most of their talent. Whether it is music, art, film, theatre, dance, digital media, exploring libraries, museums or heritage, the arts are for every child and young person, whatever their age and whatever their ability.
