The Bridge Foundation Learning programme
Young people between the ages of 16 and 18 who are not in work, education or training can gain qualifications, skills and confidence thanks to the programme now running in Shirebrook and Chesterfield.
The Bridge Foundation Learning programme gives young people the chance to:
build on their strengths and improve confidence
boost their ICT and computer skills
get support with English and maths in a relaxed and friendly environment
prepare for employment or further training
take part in a range of activities including arts, crafts, outdoor activities and day trips
gain nationally recognised qualifications
gain work placements and tasters matched to their aims and needs
improve their practical and work-related skills.
The Bridge programme covers a wide range of skills including:
team building
problem solving
speaking and listening
communication skills
health and safety
work tasters
practical life skill.

Who can take part?
Any young person aged between 16 and 18 who is not currently in education, training or employment.
What qualifications do they need to take part?
Young people don't need any qualifications to take part.
How much time does it take?
Young people will be required to attend a minimum of 16 hours per week for up to 24 weeks.
The programme will vary for each young person and is designed to meet their individual needs.
How much does it cost?
Taking part in the programme is free and young people can even get their travel expenses paid for.
What qualifications are on offer?
The programme offers foundation learning for young people age 16 - 18 years of age.
Learners follow personalised programmes that lead to accredited qualifications.
These help and support young people and build up their confidence to take part and even go onto further education, training or employment.
There are a wide range of qualifications on offer in subjects such as:
English, Maths and ICT
Employability and personal development
Health and Safety, first aid and food safety.
