Youth activities for young people
Derbyshire youth offer provides a wide range of things to do and places to go for young people aged 13 to 19-years-old, all of which can be enjoyed out of school hours.
Youth clubs and projects
Young people plan and organise with youth workers a programme of activities.
These could include arts, sports, trips out, music and of course a space to chill out with friends.
Activities will vary depending on what you and your friends like to do.
Youth workers will provide opportunities for you to try new activities, they can organise residentials, youth forums and can offer advice and information on most teenage topics.
Multi-agency teams
In April 2011, multi-agency teams were established in Derbyshire.
These teams bring together staff from different professional backgrounds, such as education support, children's centres, health, social care and youth workers under a single manager who oversees support for children, young people and families within the local community.
Mobile information and activity units
To ensure we reach as many teenagers as possible and bring services to you in more rural settings, we have a range of vehicles to welcome you on board.
For more information see Street-based youth work.
Youth information shops
In Chesterfield, Swadlincote and Buxton we have Youth Information Shops - teenagers can seek advice, information and support on a wide range of issues.
Health workers also provide confidential services at these centres including Sexual Health Clinics, Counselling and advice on your nearest health services.
Housing advice is available and links with your local housing agencies will help if you are experiencing difficulties.
Youth forums - Contact the Youth Forum
You can contact the Youth Forum by email at youth.forum@derbyshire.gov.uk
Throughout all of our services young people are encouraged to be involved in the decisions on what is on offer, to shape the services to meet their needs.
The youth offer also hosts the Derbyshire Youth Council which enables young people to have a say in how we deliver a wide range of services in our local community.
Adventurous activities
The adventurous activities team provides new opportunities to for you to try out.
They work with your local youth workers to bring activities to you including:
- skate and ride
- climbing
- canoeing
- camping
- and many more outdoor adventures.

Creative arts
A wide range of activities are available and the creative arts team also works with your local youth worker to bring the activities to you.
Film making, photography, graffiti and mural projects, dance, young bands, DJ'ing, youth theatre and circus skills are just some of the projects.
While you are busy enjoying and organising these activities you can gain certificates and national awards for your involvement.
Many of these awards will be recognised at school and by future employers, you can keep these in your records of achievements folder.
A service for all young people
We provide activities for all young people aged 13-19 and work towards ensuring everyone feels welcome and included.
For teenagers aged 16-19 who need support into employment or training, we deliver foundation learning programmes across the county.
