Derbyshire Youth Service offers a wide range of things to do and places to go for young people aged 11-19 years old, all of which can be enjoyed out of school hours. For more information see the overview and aims of youth service.

Youth clubs and projects

Young people plan and organise with youth workers a programme of activities. These could include arts, sports, trips out, music and of course a space to chill out with friends. Activities will vary depending on what you and your friends like to do. Youth workers will provide opportunities for you to try new activities, they can organise residentials, youth forums and can offer advice & information on most teenage topics. For details of a centre near you see the Youth service key centres page or see the Derbyshire Directory for information about what's happening in your local community.

A youth service personal information form is completed when a young person visits Youth Service provision for the first time. Details are taken so youth workers have emergency contact details, medical information etc should they need it during a session. Details are also used for reporting locally and nationally on the Youth Service performance. Please note no personal details are shared outside of the Youth Service. You can download and complete the form prior to a first visit if you wish, via the link below.

Mobile information and activity units

To ensure we reach as many teenagers as possible and bring services to you in more rural settings, we have a range of vehicles to welcome you on board. These include 10 Information and Activity mobiles, a mobile climbing wall, skate and ride vehicle and a creative arts bus. For more information see Street-based youth work.

Youth information shops

In Chesterfield, Swadlincote and Buxton we have Youth Information Shops, teenagers can seek advice, information and support on a wide range of issues. Health workers also provide confidential services at these centres including Sexual Health Clinics, Counselling and advice on your nearest health services. Housing advice is available and links with your local housing agencies will help if you are experiencing difficulties.

Youth forums  - Contact the Youth Forum

Throughout all of our services young people are encouraged to be involved in the decisions on what is on offer, to shape the services to meet their needs. The youth service also hosts the County Youth Forum which enables young people to have a say in how the County Council delivers a wide range of services in their local community.

The adventurous activities team provides new opportunities to for you to try out. They work with your local youth workers to bring activities to you including Skate & Ride, Climbing, Canoeing, Camping and many more outdoor adventures.
