Education & learning
Derbyshire County Council Catering Service welcomes the proposals and targets set by the Government and will be supporting schools in meeting the new food standards by September 2006 and the nutrient standards by September 2008 for all primary schools and September 2009 in all secondary schools.
The current primary three-week menu meets the new standards.
In order to facilitate the new standards and promote healthy eating it is recommended that each school adopt a ‘whole school approach’.
The Catering Service is firmly of the belief that, as well as meeting the Government targets, a focus on food and nutrition will have a significant impact on student achievement.
Our vision statement clearly demonstrates our commitment to contributing to, and transforming the health and well being of the children in Derbyshire.
We welcome the challenge and the opportunity to improve on our vision.
