Appeals

If you are unable to obtain a place for your child in the school you wanted you can appeal against the decision.


Your appeal will be heard by an appeal panel independent of the school and the council.

Guidance on appeals can be found attached to this page and you should read this before using our online appeals system.

Secondary Appeals

If your appeal is for a child transferring to secondary school and you were notified of the decision on 1 March 2013 you should submit your appeal by 28 March 2013. Your appeal will normally be heard by 17 June 2013.

If you were notified of a secondary school decision after 1 March 2013 or it relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 20 school days of receiving notification that your application was unsuccessful. Your appeal will normally be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged. 

Primary and Junior Appeals

If your appeal is for a child transferring to a junior school or starting an infant or primary school and you were notified of the decision on 16 April 2013 you should submit your appeal by 14 May 2013. Your appeal will normally be heard by 16 July 2013.

If you were notified of an infant, junior or primary decision after 16 April 2013 or it relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 20 school days of receiving notification that your application was unsuccessful. These appeals will normally be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
