Smart Schools − the future of secondary education in Derbyshire

At the end of last year, we undertook a public consultation on the future of secondary education in Derbyshire. The feedback from this was mostly positive and where appropriate we used the comments received to shape the plan.

This vision was submitted to the Department for Children, Schools and Families for approval.

When this is approved, it will release £68m in funding to be spent on six schools in the North East of Derbyshire.  These are:

  • Bolsover Schoool
  • Shirebrook Community School
  • Heritage Community School, Clowne
  • Stubbin Wood School, Shirebrook
  • Springwell Community School, Staveley
  • Netherthorpe School, Staveley

The remaining funding will come in the following 12 years and will be spent on other areas of Derbyshire. To ensure the vision remains current and up-to-date for these further waves, it will be reviewed on a regular basis.
