News update – September 2009

Financial close was reached with our Local Education Partner (LEP), Equitix Ltd, on 23/24 July 2009.  Equitix Ltd has appointed a LEP General Manager, Richard Knight, and he is currently appointing staff to the LEP Team.

Building work on the three sample schools – Heritage Mathematics and Computing Specialist School, Springwell Community School and The Bolsover School – started in March 2009 and is progressing well.  Steelwork is up at all three sites.

Design work began during the summer term on the three non-sample schools in Wave 3 – Netherthorpe School and Stubbin Wood Schools and Shirebrook Academy plus Tibshelf School – the first of the Wave 5 schools.

Consultation events on the BSF programme and designs of the schools will be held during the Autumn term and these will be advertised via the schools.

Work on preparing the rest of the schools in Wave 5 – Frederick Gent School, Alfreton Grange School, Swanwick Hall School, Alfreton Park Community Special School and Swanwick School and Sports College – to begin the BSF process will begin during the Autumn term.
