Building Schools for the Future (BSF) in Derbyshire

Derbyshire will benefit from the biggest single government investment in improving school buildings for over 50 years in the third phase of the BSF programme.

The first Derbyshire schools are in wave three of the BSF programme and these are:

The first three of these schools will open in October 2010 with the others completed in 2011 and 2012.

The Government has agreed that the council can bring forward six further schools.

Planning for that has already begun and they will be completed between 2011 and 2013.

These additional six schools are:

  • Frederick Gent School in South Normanton
  • Alfreton Grange Arts College
  • Tibshelf School
  • Swanwick Hall School
  • Alfreton Park Community Special School
  • Swanwick Sports and College

Last year the Government consulted on reprioritising schools involved in future waves so the programme better reflected local needs and the timings for these new waves have been agreed.
