Appeals

If you couldn't get a place for your child in the school you wanted you can appeal against the decision.


Your appeal will be heard by an appeal panel, independent of the school and us.

Guidance on appeals is available in the related documents section of this page and you should read this before appealing.

Secondary appeals

If your appeal is for a child transferring to secondary school and you are told of the decision on 1 March 2017, your appeal will normally be heard by 15 June 2017.

If you are told of a secondary school decision after 1 March 2017 or it relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 20 school days of being told that your application was unsuccessful. Your appeal will normally be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

Primary and junior appeals

If your appeal is for a child transferring to a junior school or starting an infant or primary school and you are told of the decision on 18 April 2017 you should submit your appeal by 23 May 2017. Your appeal will normally be heard by 21 July 2017.

If you are told of an infant, junior or primary decision after 18 April 2017 or it relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 20 school days of being told that your application was unsuccessful. These appeals will normally be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
