Childcare inclusion

All services have a legal duty to consider how best to offer support to meet a child's needs whether or not they have an additional need or disability.

If you are a parent or carer and your child or young person has an additional need or disability, please contact your child's or young person's setting in the first instance as they have direct access to our services.

If you would like to discuss an issue or meet with us this can be arranged.

You will, of course, be kept fully involved with any actions and informed at all times of any developments.

Council's and most day nurseries and pre-schools have a Special Education Needs co-coordinator who will be able to discuss your child's needs and how to make sure your child can enjoy all the activities on offer.

Services for young people aged 11−19 years may have a named person too.

We have extensive experience of supporting staff in childcare and young person provision to help them meet the needs of children and young people with a disability or additional needs within the age range of 0−19 years.

If you would like to discuss an issue or meet with an inclusion officer please speak to your child's or young person's provider.
