Childcare sufficiency assessment
The Childcare Act 2006 contributes to the Government’s commitment to give every child the best start in life and parents/carers a greater opportunity to balance work and family life.
From April 2008, section six of the Childcare Act, places a duty on us to secure (in so far as is reasonably practicable), sufficient childcare to meet the needs of parents/carers to enable them to work or to undertake education or training leading to work.
In preparation for this duty, a detailed Childcare Sufficiency Assessment has been undertaken.
The results of the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment will feed into the Children and Young People’s Plan.
