Feeding Together At Pure Vibes
The Feeding Together Group (Breastfeeding Support) provides social support from mother-to-mother. It provides women with the opportunity to meet other women who are breastfeeding. Breastfeeding Support Volunteers also attend the group; they supply a peer role model who has "gone before" and can describe what is normal. They can also help a mother be aware of when her issues require more specialised input and she should be referred to a health professional or specialised support. A mother should not be referred to a breastfeeding group for the resolution of a problem (other than issues of support or breastfeeding confidence). Women with a breastfeeding problem need to see their Midwife or Health Visitor on a one-to-one basis, or attend one of the specialist sessions run by lactation consultants. It may be beneficial for them to be signposted to a group alongside having their problem addressed. The Lactation Consultant attends this session - check with the centre for dates. A drop-in session offering information and support regarding infant feeding and an opportunity to meet other parents. Share experiences and swap tips and tricks when the going gets tough!
