About Kangaroos pre school

Kangaroos Pre-School is for Pre-School children aged between 2 years and school age . Kangaroos Pre-School operates from two rooms in a church hall in the centre of Melbourne a small town in South Derbyshire (The building is fully accessible to all including wheelchair users). We welcome all children irrespective of age , culture , ethnic background , learning disabilities, disabilities, religion,economic background or gender. We aim to provide a warm , safe, stimulating environment for every child who attends our group. One of Kangaroos Pre-School's strength's is the staff who work here . We have ten regular staff members and aim to have a minimum of six staff working each session we pride ourselves on our high staff:children ratio, four of whom are graduates with three being qualified teachers with experience in a range of early years settings . One staff member holds EYPS ( Early Years Professional Status ) and One staff member is studying for EYTS ( Early Years Teacher Status ) at present . In addition to this we have one member of staff who has completed her NVQ3 and is studying a foundation degree . Three other staff are studying for NVQ3 at present. The staff are committed to ongoing training to ensure that the whole team gives support to the children who come to Kangaroos Pre-School the very best Early education that we can. Training and courses attended by staff recently include: First aid training , Food Safety , Safeguarding , Health and Safety , Child development ,Whole Staff Downs Syndrome Training.Another of Kangaroos strength's is our use of the local community through visits and visitors. Kangaroos is very much part of the community of Melbourne which benefits both the community and the group. As a staff we have worked hard to write policies and develop practices that reflect the revised EYFS ( Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum) and help each child to reach their potential. We aim to offer a wide curriculum with varied and challenging activities. At the start of each afternoon session we offer a 'Lunch Club' where the children bring in a packed lunch to eat with their friends. Our Lunch Club is very popular - enjoyed by children and the valued by the parents.We also welcome parental involvement as well as the informal involvement we enjoy on a daily basis we also invite parents to a termly get together to share activities that we are focusing on that term.
