Child Speech And Language Therapy - Tameside & Glossop Nhs Foundation Trust
We are a community based service, offering assessment, advice and treatment for children and young people who are experiencing speech, language or communication difficulties. Our team of therapists and support assistants include specialists for early years work (under 3's), clinic, schools, stammering and autistic spectrum disorders. Our early years team works with children under 3 in their own homes or children's centres. Parents are the best people to encourage their children's development and therapists can suggest games and activities to support this. For older children we offer clinic-based sessions, where the therapist can work with parents to assess their child's needs and provide therapy activities, either one-to-one or in groups. Therapists in our mainstream support service work closely with children and their teachers in local schools. Difficulties with speech, language and communication can have a big impact on how well children cope in school, and by sharing our expertise we can help minimise problems and ensure children fulfil their potential. Our team also includes specialist therapists who work with children who stammer or who have autistic spectrum disorders.
