In Derbyshire all families are entitled to up to 570 hours per year of free 'early education' from the term following your child's third birthday. Our school offers early education places, please contact us for more information. We are an Enhanced Resource School. In addition to our mainstream support of pupils we have additional resources and expertise for pupils with hearing and physical impairments. These include. - Specialist teaching for SEN students from 11-19 - ERS facility for hearing and physical impairments - Experience of working with students with a range of learning difficulties from mild to severe including autism, dyslexia and speech & language difficulties - The Deputy SENCo is a skilled Behaviour Support Strategist working with students with emotional, social and behavioural problems - Skilled staff, including a Medical Officer, who have worked with students with a variety of medical conditions including epilepsy, tracheotomy, feeding tubes and bowel problems - Withdrawal classes for students with literacy difficulties - Support for students with learning difficulties in their core curriculum and practical lessons when possible - A focus group for specialist teaching of dyslexic students - Regular Nurture and Positive Support sessions - A safe base for SEN students at breakfast club, break, lunch and after school - Support on visits out of school and for after school clubs - Sports club one lunchtime per week for SEN students and their friends - A Girls' Group one lunchtime per week providing advice and support - Links with a variety of professions offering advice and support including School Nurse, Physiotherapist, Paediatricians, Occupational Therapist, Educational Specialist Teachers for VI,PI, HI and Autism, the Educational Psychologist, Local Education Officer, MAT Team and CAMHs workers - KS4 and KS5 curriculum tailored to meet the needs of students through Functional Skills and City and Guild qualifications, with a focus on independence skills and preparation for further education and working life and leisure
