About Child Contact Centre (Belper Cottage Project)

The contact centre is a neutral meeting place where children of separated families can enjoy contact with one or both parents, or sometimes other family members, where there is no suitable alternative venue on Saturdays fortnightly. We offer a warm, friendly environment. The Centre's aims are to provide a safe, confidential, professional and caring environment for both families and volunteers. It ensures that by providing the appropriate equipment (toys, books, etc.), the families are able to enjoy spending positive time together. Due to the lay-out of the cottage, the Centre is fortunate to be able to offer each family their own room which provides privacy and each family is offered a tailored package. If required, a volunteer can help with the basics, e.g. nappy changing, feeding, etc. Each family is assigned a volunteer Key Worker; this means that closer relationships can be built which is important when a family is re-building, or even starting out for the first time. The Centre sessions are held on alternate Saturdays, 9.30 am - 12.30 pm. The Centre also offers a handover service, which means that the adult delivering the child does not have to meet the visiting adult
